SUPER IROES

SUPER prices! SUPER offers! SUPER desperate employees…

About

Welcome to the downtown Athens branch of the SUPER store chain!
Here you’ll find all kinds of… characters, family-size humor, and madness at a budget price.
SUPER offers huge variety. In other words, it has everything! Demanding bosses with a creative outlook to logic and reality, and difficult customers with outrageous demands. The store also comes with a group of employees who may each seem to come from a different planet, yet through their shifts and the small and big struggles of everyday work, become more than colleagues. They become a small family: they will argue, laugh, support one another, and learn to stand together against whatever daily life throws at them. And so, with every shift, they will discover that to survive work and life, you need the powers of a superhero.

At the helm of this bizarre crew is the branch owner, Vasilis (Giannis Bezos), a classic old-school Greek employer, who, hires naturally through entirely “merit-based” procedure, his arrogant, spaced out son Dimitris (Alexandros Chrysanthopoulos) as manager. Dimitris, after blowing his parents’ money abroad, returns to make the employees’ lives miserable.

Everything begins when Antonis (Vasilis Ntarmas), twenty-something year old with zero work experience and a degree left… in the freezer, comes to Athens to chase his dreams. Reality brings him crashing down into the fruit and vegetable section of SUPER, next to veteran produce queen Rena (Zoi Rigopoulou), who is generally fed up and specifically counting down the days until retirement. At the checkout department, Efi (Katerina Patsiani) serves as the supervisor, making sure she does right by everyone around her as an employee, mother, wife, daughter, and daughter in law, except herself. At the same time, she tries to keep Stavroula (Eleana Stravodimou) in line, the cheerful and somewhat lazy cashier who talks a lot, works very little, and is trying to have a baby with her husband, who also works at SUPER.

Her husband is Zacharias (Alexandros Zouridakis), the warehouse supervisor, who struggles to run his department with peace, order, and safety. His plans are usually disrupted by Spyros (Aineias Tsamatis), the rebellious but somewhat immature fellow warehouse worker, who is raising his daughter on his own. At the deli counter, the somewhat primitive Periklis (Stavros Markalas) never misses a chance to sing lovesick songs, flirt with female customers, and above all, get on the nerves of the strikingly beautiful and strikingly tough vegan butcher Charistella (Natasa Exintaveloni), who doesn’t tolerate so much as a fly… near her cleaver.
